Something new. Comics!
Boomfest is an international comics festival, and they decided to showcase best works in a local library not far from me, so it was a good idea to visit it.
Yep, I'm not into comics (yet!), but I thought it'll be quite interesting after all.
Okay, I understand that I couldn't judge the whole comics industry based on one festival, but still here are some thoughts.
First of all, media. Practically all comics were in digital. It surprised me a lot. Where is ink, markers? Only Photoshop (or whatever).
Secondly, a lot of people can draw well. I mean, really well.
But here's a sad part. Very few of comics artists have skills in storytelling. And that's really sad. Comics are all about stories, not good drawings. However on this festival I saw the latter, not good narratives.
All of these are just personal reminders, as a whole the exhibition was great and gave me a lot of food for thought.
